Note to Freelancers

Since I've come across this a couple of times now, I just have to write this open note to freelancers...

If you're in the UK, and I'm in the UK, then don't quote me a price for work in USD. I'm not going to pay more (or even less possibly) to someone else in the same country as me because of a GBP/USD Exchange rate fluctuation. So pick a price in£ and stick to it else I just won't use you.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. Happy new year, blah blah blah.

What sites do you use to find a freelancer?

I have used ScriptLance in the past and that has been ok.

For this post, I was mostly thinking of freelance designers and I have mostly found them by looking through Digital Point forums, and looking for entries into design competitions that I like.

Other than that, I just use Google because I expect a designer to have a website with their portfolio online.

I agree with you. Service providers can actually miss the point. If a buyer of service is from UK, then give a quote in GBP.As the saying goes, when in Rome do as Romans. :)

I understand how you feel. I am a freelancer and regardless of country or currency they have, I always make a quote in standard USD$. Saves the hassle in computing fluctuated currencies, I guess.

I used to be a freelancer and when people asked for a quote in dollars it annoyed me so much as i base my work in gbp.

haha, as long as you feel good, yo are allowed to rant.

I guess it depends where you are working, another great freelance site is getafreelancer.com. The currency used there is us dollars...

There are many freelance sites nowadays, although not all are trustworthy sites.
