"Can I Delete An Amazon Tracking ID?"
Amazon allows the creation of 100 tracking IDs on its Associate program. I like the Associate program and use it across a lot of sites and have actually run out of tracking IDs, but the thing is I don't use them all so wanted to delete some I have never used to create new ones in their place. If you're in the same boat, then you might have asked the same question as me:
"Can I Delete An Amazon Tracking ID?"
Well, in case you're wondering, the answer is no, you can't. I asked Amazon Associate support staff and they said this wasn't possible and the only solution would be to delete my account and start again. Yikes, a tad extreme me thinks. So think carefully before you create that next tracking ID - when they're gone, they're gone.

I wish Amazon would get their act together and match the basic functionality of 99% of other affiliate programmes:
- Realtime stats
- Regular, reliable payments
- Flexible tracking
- Account managers
It's a real shame, as they have some outstanding widgets and tools for affiliates.

Dave: hehe, thanks for the offer.
Richard: You're right, it's odd that they are excellent in many regards but lacking in some of the basic areas.

It's 100 tags by default, but you can request up to 1500 from support. From my email:
You can create up to 100 tracking IDs through your account. If you need more than 100 tracking IDs you need to contact us and we can create up to 1500 tracking IDs for your account.
Please contact us again using the following link and advise us how many tracking IDs you need, the name you would like to use for the tracking ID and the Associates ID to the account you need the IDs on:

Thanks Anonymous for the tip off. Very interesting - maybe because I asked if I could delete some, they just literally answered the question without giving me the commonsense alternative - increasing the limit. I will contact them again, thanks muchly.
I accidentally created a tracking ID with a writer's name that isn't mine. I "thought" at the time, that I was doing something else...I thought I was tracking her books. What an idiot! So, now I can't give it back to her and I don't use it. I don't understand the reasoning with Amazon and not deleting tracking ID's. They should WARN us in advance, or maybe it was somewhere in the "tiny" writing no one reads.
Thanks for this - I thought I was going mad not being able to do it. Why are Amazon so backward with their systems?
