Google to take on Affiliate Networks?

The blogosphere has been buzzing lately with the news that Google is planning to launch a "Cost Per Action" service, which basically will link revenue to actions such as purchasing something or generating a lead. This takes it away from its Adsense/Adwords "cpc" advertising model and parks its tanks firmly on the lawn of the affiliate networks.

Over at SeekingAlpha.com, they have called this Google's Valueclick killer.

Another interesting annoucement from Google concerns a new payment system called Google Checkout which will be challenging Paypal. They will be encouraging their Adwords advertisers to make use of it which will really Google a comprehensive suite tools to offer companies wanting to advertise and sell online.
